Special event rentals: Ages 6-adult. Contact Stacey Allington, 487-7029 for information about renting the climbing wall for your group. Staff and equipment provided; no experience needed.

There are lots of ways to get rockin'!

  • 27' high x 50' wide climbing wall with natural features
  • 13' high x 20' wide bouldering wall.
  • Features: crack, overhangs, dihedrals, and arêtes.
  • Classes for ages 4-6, 6-8, 9-13, 14+.
  • Open climb, ages 5+.
  • Family Friday Climb, ages 4+.
  • Birthday parties, ages 5-15.

General Information

  • Everyone must sign a waiver. Parent signature required for youth under 18.
  • You must wear close-toed shoes.
  • Children 10 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Belayers (people holding ropes for climbers) must be at least 14 years old and have a current Firstenburg Center belay card.
  • To obtain a belay card, you must complete Mountain Goats on the Rock Belay Certification class. Climbers 14+ with current belay experience can opt to pass a skills test (contact Stacey at 487-7029 to schedule a time) and then purchase a belay card. A belay card must be purchased within 60 days of completing a class/skills test. Belay card cost: $5.

Billy Goats on the Rock
Ages 4-6. Improve your child’s movement control and coordination in this new fun class for our youngest climbers. Teachers will also focus on problem solving, mental awareness and height phobias. It’s a mountain of fun!

Kids on the Rock
Ages 6-8 and 9-13. Learn to climb, gain self confidence, and meet friends in a class designed specifically for pre-belay-age climbers. Learn harness and tie-in safety, verbal commands, and climbing technique. Bouldering instruction included. *Intermediate class for ages 9-13 is available, must complete beginning class or have climbing experience. Must know harnessing, checks, commands and how to clip-in.

After School Climbing Club
Looking for some adventure? Join us for a “kids only” climb time and have fun with some endurance and team building games or just climb with your friends.  No climbing experience is necessary. All equipment is provided. Pre-registration is required.

Family and Friends Friday Climb
Climb one, climb all! Ages 4+. No experience necessary. Multiple difficulty levels provide a challenge for children, teens, and parents at the same place for two hours of unlimited climbing. All groups must be accompanied by a person 18+. All climbers must wear close-toed shoes.

Kids on the Rock Bouldering Class
Ages 6-13. Spend time bouldering, playing games, problem solving, and building strength and power. Bouldering is a style of rock climbing limited to very short climbs, without the use of ropes, which focuses on individual moves or a short sequence of moves.

Climbing Wall Birthday Party
Ages 5 -15. Reach for the stars on your special day, with an hour filled with climbing and games. Belayers, equipment, and fun are provided, no prior experience required. Various times during the week and weekends are available. Call 487-7026 to book a party.

Mountain Goats on the Rock Belay Certification Climbing Class
Ages 14+. Learn how to belay a climber on top-rope to better utilize open climb. This beginning class includes harness safety, belay training, climbing commands, route finding and basic technique.  This class will prepare you to pass Sadri’s Summit belay test. You may purchase a belay card after the final class. Attendance at first class for Thursday classes. Co-ed and Women’s only classes available.

Mountain Goat on the Rock Combo Climbing Class
Co-ed. Ages 14+. Register for two classes: Mountain Goats on the Rock Belay Certification Class and Mountain Goats on the Rock Movement Climbing Class together and get a better deal!

Mountain Goats on the Rock Movement Climbing Class
Ages 14+. This class will focus on climbing skills such as foot placement, proper body positioning, and how to minimize fatigue on arms and hands. You will also learn bouldering techniques falls and games. A climbing workout benefits flexibility, strength, agility, mental awareness, and emotional astuteness. Attendance at first class for Thursday classes. Co-ed and Women’s only classes available.

Open Climb
Ages 5-adult. All are welcome to experience the wall during open climb.  Parks and Recreation belayers will assist climbers, giving EVERYONE this special chance to experience one of the fastest growing sports in America. Belayers must be at least 14. Get belay certified and climb with your friends and family, less wait time! For information on how to obtain a belay card, click on the open climb link above or call 487-7001. Children 10 and younger must be accompanied by a person 18+. Close-toed shoes required. No registration required. Waiver is required for all climbers; pick one up at the wall. Anyone under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian's signature. Maximum 12 participants at each open climb -- bracelets will be handed out at the front desk 30 minutes before each open climb. Climbers must report to the wall within 10 minutes of purchasing a bracelet or open climb start time, whichever is sooner.

1 rental: $5

*Personal climbing equipment is accepted upon inspection.
* Black Diamond-brand harnesses, chalk and chalk bags are available for purchase at the front desk.
* Participants need to report to the open climb within 10 minutes of obtaining a bracelet from the front desk, or at the start of open climb, whichever comes first.

M/Th 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Ages 5+
M/W 6-8 p.m. Ages 5+
T/Th 7:30-9:30 p.m.  Ages 5+
W 10-11:30 a.m. adult 18+
