Tennis - Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Do you have to be a member to play?
A. No. We are a public tennis and racquetball facility owned and operated by the City of Vancouver. Everyone is welcome. Participants may utilize the facility in one of two ways. For those who play frequently, they may join as a member and pay monthly membership dues. Non-members pay a per-time non-member user fee.

Q. What benefits are there to becoming a member of VTC?
A.Members may reserve courts seven days in advance, participate in all In-House activities at no additional charge and receive discounts on all lesson programs. Non-members may reserve courts two days in advance, pay a non-member user fee for all In-House activities and pay standard rates for all lesson programs.

Q. How far in advance may I reserve a court?
A. Members may reserve courts seven days in advance; non-members may reserve courts two days in advance.

Q. What are your hours of operation?
A. Currently we are open Monday through Friday from 6:15 a.m. to 10:15 p.m., Saturday 6:45 a.m. to 9:15 p.m. and Sunday 8 a.m. to 9:15 p.m.

Q. How long is a VTC tennis court reservation for?
A. A VTC court reservation is one hour and 15 minutes in length.

Q. When is it easiest to get an indoor court at VTC?
A. It can be difficult to get an indoor court time during prime time. Those time are Monday through Friday at 9:15 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 11:45 a.m., 3:30 p.m., 4:45 p.m., 6 p.m., 7:15 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. It is easiest to get an indoor court during non-prime time, which is before 9:15 a.m., 1 p.m., 2:15 p.m. and after 8:30 p.m. All weekend court times are easier to reserve.

Q. How many courts does VTC have?
A. We have 9 indoor tennis courts, 4 outdoor tennis courts and 4 indoor racquetball courts.

Q. Does VTC offer tennis lessons?
A. Yes. VTC offers private, semi-private and group lessons for children, adults and seniors of all ability levels. We have an extensive Junior Development program with programs for entry level kids ages four through six, up to high school aged Junior Elite tournament players. For adults and seniors we offer private, semi-private and group lessons in the mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends, 7 days a week for players of all ability levels. Q. Does VTC offer tournaments and leagues?
A. Yes. VTC hosts a wide variety of tournaments and leagues for kids, adults and seniors of all ages and ability levels. Call us at 360-696-8123 for more information.

Q. What else does VTC offer?
A. VTC offers racquetball, handball, wallyball and ping pong/table tennis. VTC also has tennis ball machine rentals, tennis racquet/demo rentals, towel rentals, stringing services and an affiliation with Players Racquet Shop, which provides racquets, shoes, clothing and accessory sales to VTC's members and patrons.
